Second Cousin Once-Removed
There are
two distinct groups of relatives that can be correctly identified as "second
cousins once-removed."
First
Group
A second cousin
once-removed may identify a child of one of your
second cousins. Every person identified as this type of first cousin
once-removed must also be a great-great-grandchild of your great-grandparent.
Second
Group
A second
cousin once-removed is the child of one of your first cousins twice-removed.
This is sometimes
confusing, as there may be a great difference in ages of two people who are each
correctly identified as a second cousin once-removed.
When

once-removed" count the members of both groups.
