First Cousin
Once-Removed
There are
two distinct groups of relatives that can be correctly identified as "First
Cousins Once-Removed."
First
Group
A first cousin
once-removed may identify a child of one of your first
cousins. Every person identified as this type of first cousin
once-removed must also be a great-grandchild of your grandparent.
Second
Group
A first
cousin once-removed may also identify the child of one of your blood related
great-aunts or great-uncles.
When answering the
Intestacy Calculator questions regarding living "first cousins once-removed"
count all living members of both groups.
This is sometimes
confusing, as there may be a great difference in ages of two people who are each
correctly identified as a first cousin once-removed.
