Second Cousin Once-Removed
There
are two distinct groups of relatives that can be correctly
identified as "second cousins once-removed." This is
sometimes confusing, as there may be a great difference in the
ages of two people who are each correctly identified as a second
cousin once-removed.
First Group
A second cousin once-removed is
the child of one of your
first cousins twice-removed. This person must also be
a grandchild to one of your
great-great-aunt or great-great-uncles.
When answering the
Intestacy Calculator™ questions regarding living
"second cousins once-removed" count only the members of this
first group.
Second Group
A second cousin once-removed may
identify a child of one of your
second cousins. Every person identified as this type
of first cousin once-removed must also be a
great-great-grandchild of your great-grandparent. Do not
include any members from this second group.
